You may have heard that the smoke alarm at CoM went off on Sunday morning during break. Children were everywhere throughout the building and on the playground enjoying time with their Jewish friends. Teachers were dispersed as well.
At the most difficult time during the school day to gather our students in an orderly way and get them to safety, the fire alarm sounded. Our teachers and students knew exactly what to do and students exited the building to safety in a matter of minutes.
It was NOT a drill. It was a false alarm. There were a few tears from some of our smallest students as the alarm was really LOUD and lots of love and hugs were offered to soothe them.
Sorry that we couldn’t give you and our students advanced warning, but this alarm failure gave our school the best training for what to do if there had been a real fire.
