KA Place to LearnStudents learn that the synagogue is a place to learn about Judaism and are introduced to the Bar & Bat Mitzvah ceremonies
1-2PurimStudents will make traditional Purim gifts (mishlo-ach manot and matanot l’evyonim) and then exchange these gifts.  They will complete the reflection: “We can be like Mordechai and Esther. These are ways we can show our Jewish pride.
3Loving your bodyStudents will explain why it is important to take care of and love their bodies (including mind) and articulate healthy habits for caring for their own bodies
4Communal and Individual PrayersPublic worship is an essential part of Jewish prayer, and many prayers can not be said without a minyan.
5-6What is the Haftarah?Students will gain an understanding of the Haftarah and its role in the Torah Service.
7The Four Children part of the sederStudents will talk about the making of freedom and slavery in a modern context
HSThe Great MigrationThe students will identify challenges Russian Jews faced in the USA, better understand how Jews adapted to US society and describe ways that Jews expressed their identities.  Students also review their social action project and make plans for celebration and publicity.
