PURIM IS COMING, PURIM IS COMING! But before there was Purim and the story of Esther, there was the ancient State of Israel and the 1st Holy Temple. Next shabbat is called Shabbat Shekalim in which we remember the Temple and all that was necessary to maintain it. For the younger students, we’ll read books all about the ancient Temple and synagogues today and yesterday. Things will get a bit more action-packed for the older students as we discuss the history of the 1st Temple and its destruction — without which we would not have had a story like Esther’s, set not in Israel…but in the diaspora.

Your input needed!

Please take 8 minutes to respond to an anonymous survey that asks questions about your children’s (and your) experience with the Labri’ut curriculum we are using this year for Judaism. We want to know what kinds of Jewish learning experiences you seek moving forward.
